With crime in Starling City at an all-time low thanks to the Arrow and his team, Oliver thinks he can finally balance being both the Arrow and Oliver Queen and asks Felicity out on a date. However, when a new villain emerges, who has claimed the name Vertigo from the recently deceased Count, Oliver is caught off-guard and someone close to him is hurt. Oliver and a newly suited up Roy take on the Count. Laurel joins Arrow's inner circle and Felicity gets a part-time job at a tech store to make ends meet. Also, Oliver fights to regain his company, Queen Consolidated, but comes up against a very worthy adversary.

Barry Allen is a Central City police forensic scientist with a reasonably happy life, despite the childhood trauma of a mysterious red and yellow lightning killing his mother and framing his father. All that changes when a massive particle accelerator accident leads to Barry being struck by lightning in his lab. Coming out of coma nine months later, Barry and his new friends at S.T.A.R labs find that he now has the ability to move at superhuman speed. Furthermore, Barry learns that he is but one of many affected by that event, most of whom are using their powers for evil. Determined to make a difference, Barry dedicates his life to fighting such threats, as The Flash. While he gains allies he never expected, there are also secret forces determined to aid and manipulate him for their own agenda.

With the singularity destroyed, Central City wants to honor The Flash, but the ultimate sacrifices made by others haunts Barry, who retreats from the company of all those who were once close. When the radiation-absorbing meta-human Atom Smasher threatens he city, Barry goes it along, not realizing he's also being stalked. In defeat, Dr. Wells leaves Barry a parting gift.

We pick up on Barry three months after he changed the timeline. He has trapped Reverse Flash in a cage, his parents are alive, but love interest Iris West does not know who he is. Neither do his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs. With these changes come new enemies, new speedsters and a whole world in Flashpoint.

Vanessa moves fast to claim Chris for her own, taking his time away and distancing him from his family and friends. His mom, Maddie, is disturbed by their sudden relationship and when she discovers a secret of Vanessa's and she uses all her resources to convince Chris to end it.
